when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?

i joined in early (?) 2017. i had a lucky blue smith fc but that lasted for a hot minute and i ghosted LMAO. then i reapplied with astrid and as a bernadotte, i had sooo much fun <3 i don't remember ANYTHING, i'm sorry i just don't. i think irenton was still in its slowburn era. i was still in high school, about to graduate. now i have a master's degree and i'm working, crazy stuff!!!!

which characters have you written over the years ?

astrid, uriah 1.0 and 2.0, vitaliya, verona, francisco / francois, arvid, a dudley o'shaughnessy fc ( for 1 sec before ghosting )... i think that's everyone ???

what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?

i had a lot of fun writing chimei. i think it was the height of hshq for me so it really sticks out to me. idk if the bernadottes as a whole count as a plotline ? i'm such a sucker for them. the NUMBER one plotline though would be the russian plots vitya was part of. i think it's a sign of a good plotline when a 60-year-old character's threads are interesting and have me logging in. i don't want to name every plot but i have to give a mention to italy's stuff. i picked up verona because there was a huge hole in the hshqverse since italy had no rep, and i figured i'd survive without any nephews and nieces but then you all came back and i was so overjoyed <3 verona's story became so much more fulfilling for me to write.

what about other people's plotlines ?

i know i was kinda involved but watching the basel thing evolve was super entertaining. i liked the whole thing from beginning to the end. as for smaller plots, i think the spanish fires fucking up first zhergi and the farnauld has to be my fave thing. it was so wild and i LOVED the fact that a 3 year-old-plotline still had an effect on current threads and in such a surprising way <3

who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?

astrid.... of course it's astrid. she was my age so i mirrored a lot of problems from my own life and made them hers. obviously they were exaggerated problems and shit but through astrid i got to write about emotions that were current to me. it was therapeutic and fun. i've loved all of my characters a lot though. vitya was so special because she was a character like no other. i loved creating her backstory and i had so much fun working on her psyche. a former USSR with a modest background, now an extremely influential duchess ? i loveeed it. it was so different and writing her inner monologue was so satisfying.

if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?

i think the beginning of chimei. there was something about it. it moved naturally. i really miss the time.

is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?

i'd speed up ilstrid so that we would actually get to write them getting together. i'll take the blame for ilstrid never really taking off lmao sry about that evy. i also wanna say that ilstrid is one of my fave ships because it was so easy and not-at-all-stressful to develop. it may have not reached its end, we didn't get a satisfying ending but i think it was so much fun to portray that kind of a love story. i wasn't a fan of friends-to-lovers trope but ilstrid is still one of my fave ships <3

what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?

ilstrid akfndsjkgbsnjg but also i think i would have enjoyed writing verona as the grand duchess of austria too. i do regret never applying for an austrian. it was something that "i'll do later" and never did it. it was partly because i didn't have a plotline for an austrian and couldn't naturally come up with one :(

what is your favourite ooc memory ?

when we brought the zulus. i don't think anything topped it. we made some really fucking shady and weird online chatroom to figure out the zulus' backstory and it was so much fun. i hadn't been that excited for something in a long time!!! and i think i'll have to mention all of the late nights of chatting with people. it was a big part of the hshq experience. we were all actual friends and i loved joking around. and i'll say it here now because this is so embarrassing but honestly i've always felt so appreciated when people have used the term naomi'd. it felt like a nickname fkjsgnjkgn and i'm glad i never upset anyone with my pushiness skdgngj

i'll disappear, i'm sorry but i think it's inevitable. i've enjoyed the chats and like i said i've loved to joke around but i'm not a person who really does online relationships. hshq was an exception and it'll stay as one. if you guys ever start writing again, pls im me or @ me. if it's meant to be, i'll stumble upon the message at the right time <3

what else would you like to say ?

oh dear ! i have so much to say but not enough words to express my feelings ! seven years is a long time to be part of something and i never expected to remain here for such a long time. i've been allowed to write and plot and create complex and inspiring plotlines with you, and i think it's been exceptional. hshq was something else among rpgs. anyone who has been part of this, has to agree. i think it says a lot that even though the dash died, on the very day of closing, six or so members did the final task. and i have a feeling we'll see many 058 and 059 tasks this week. i've laughed a lot with you, i've stayed up until the little hours just to be part of the experience, i've cried at your writing... i think honesty hours will be the epitome of joy for me. they always made me laugh and the energy was unbeatable. hshq has given me so much joy and has taught me a lot ! about people, about writing, about the english language and photoshop !!! you guys have no fucking idea how grateful i am of this experience and i wish i could relive it --- and that's a really good sign. sometimes we are glad to reach the ending but i don't think that applies here. this spring will feel different and this week will feel horrible. i have to admit, i'm not exactly ready for this and it feels so silly because it was 'just rp' aksfdbjdsgs thank you everyone for these years, the late nights and the amazing experience <3

There was a fc I think you guys recommended a long time ago for someone, and the fc was just beyond perfect for someone I’d like to play now. The problem is I can’t remember his name. I can remember a detail or two I think. He had light colored eyes, and I think you guys might’ve specified that he was black at least partly, which I remember thinking was odd because he seemed white-passing. Maybe he was some kind of alternate for Matthew daddario? I don’t entirely remember.

In fair Verona, our tale begins with ARMAND GIORDANO, who is THIRTY years old. He is often called AJAX by the MONTAGUES and works as their SOLDIER. He uses HE/HIM pronouns.

He was never supposed to have been born, and Armand would never have known if not for his sixteenth birthday celebration. The night was dark and the streets were rowdy with strangers as drunk as he was when a woman stopped him in his tracks and SPIT in his face. I know who you are, she said, You have your father’s eyes. She told him his origin story with each blow, fist upon cheek and nails digging into skin. His father, Armand learned, was a Capulet emissary who turned his back on his true famiglia for a few nights of pleasure and the kiss of an undeserving Montague. We killed them both, she hissed into his ear as he groaned and spit up blood, and the only reason we did not kill you was because you were a babe. But you are grown now, and you should forever sleep with one eye open. But Hercules did not BOW to his mortality before the wrath of the gods, and neither did Armand. He slept with both eyes shut like a man in perfect peace, but his dreams were of glittering blades and shattered glass. They were of clasped hands and kissed knuckles turned to blood-stained palms and infected wounds.

His fathers agonized over the sudden change in their darling boy. They adopted him as a babe and never stopped adoring him; the Verona sun never left the sky until it heard Armand’s fathers tell him how precious he was. Armand’s fathers tempted the truth out of him with promises of understanding, gentle questions, even outright pleading and begging at his feet. Each time, Armand turned his cheek in stoic silence. How could he tell the two people he loved most in the world — and the two people who loved him most in the world — the truth? His blood was TAINTED from the beginning, and his bones sang of war and betrayal. He wanted to be more than his past; perhaps he wanted to run away from it, too. Armand was never a brilliant boy, but he made up for it with his kind and open heart; he didn’t realize until he turned sixteen that it made him a TARGET too, so Armand made strength and might his new god. The gym became his temple and his holy altar and his anger and fear grew in tandem, until he could hardly recognize one from the other. He was all brambles and thorns, and no heart dared prick itself on his sharp edges to reach the boy who wondered if his birth parents would have loved him, had they LIVED.

That boy DIED when his fathers were murdered. It was an accident, they told him, straightforward and without question. But Armand knew. He knew that he had not slept with one eye open, that he let the Capulet woman leave his bruised and bloody body on the streets without ever studying her face. There was not a soul in Verona who could convince Armand his fathers were not murdered by the Capulets, or that he was not to blame. He had abandoned his own story for fear of facing the prologue; and his fathers were dead for it. NEVER AGAIN. Never again would anyone draw his blood and live to tell the tale. He would hold all his pain and the entirety of his treacherous spirit inside him, until Armand could no longer bear it and found solace in the taste of copper and new bruises on his flesh — just to feel ALIVE.

The boy who slept with both eyes closed was gone; the boy who could look love in the eye was DESTROYED. In his place was a man who broke his own mold to become the perfect soldier: relentless, ruthless and ready for all that came his way — all to become a Montague. He marched up to Roman years ago when the prince still seemed more boy than heir, and with one sentence secured his ranking amongst the Montagues: I could kill you right now, but I won’t if you let me become one of your own. He was honored to be Roman’s personal bodyguard and earn the title of Montagues’ most coveted and FEARED soldier. All of Verona know the name Ajax, and still, very few dare utter the name Armand. They whisper that he is no human; he is a creature built by the Montagues, without a beating heart and without a human name. He’s glad for it; Armand died with his fathers. Like a tortured and godless phoenix, he rises from his own ashes and abandons his humanity — as Ajax, and Ajax alone.

ROMAN MONTAGUE: Charge. Long live the king who deserves the throne. There is a reason Armand chose to pledge his allegiance to Roman from the very beginning, and it’s the same reason Armand stays quiet in Damiano’s presence at all times: because Damiano is not Armand’s future. In the rare moments that Armand is honest with himself, he knows Damiano is not the Montagues’ future either, or even Verona’s. That belongs to Roman, to the boy who is born into more strife and turmoil than Armand can even imagine and still finds beauty in his dreams. Perhaps in the beginning, Armand thought Roman was a fool; now, he understands the boy who may just become a great man and a great king — and he will do anything to make sure Roman’s potential is realized.

MARCELO ROSSO: Mirror. There are greater terrors in the night than being tortured by an enemy or dragged through the mud before the city; Armand will gladly choose either of the two before he allows himself to be seen and understood. Marcelo is exactly the person he might have been. Did he not lose everything, too? Did he not also love his fathers and was he not loved in return? Yet Marcelo is everything Armand might have been and chose not to be: hellbent on vengeance, a tornado on fire. It scares him, bewilders him and interests him all at the same time; it’s a dangerous mix of emotions, so Armand stays away when he can and silent when he cannot.

HAZEL ACCARDI: Soft spot. When Armand was a child, his fathers told him a story of a princess who lived on the moon and longed to see the world like the sun: dazzling and bustling with light, instead of shadowed in the dark. He’s convinced Hazel is the princess his father spoke of. He pities her, perhaps because he sees something of himself in her that he thought had long withered away. People like Hazel are not taught to see around the corner; how can anyone so loved and lovable know not to walk through life with their palms wide open to catch all the pain and horror that falls from the sky? He sees in Hazel the sister he begged for as a child, and though no one’s asked it of him, he’s accepted the honor of being her protector as she pays off her debts to the Montagues.

CASTORA AGUILAR: Weakness. She hardly knows him — Armand knows this, and is relieved for it. If she were to come too close, Castora might see it in his eyes: the deep admiration that’s blossomed in his chest like flowers in spring in her name, the silent wanting for the woman who is stronger than he can ever hope to be. It’s her power that draws him to her. There is a determined gleam in her eye, a fighting spirit that Armand cannot resist. What began as a distant respect has fumbled out of his control, and he dreads the day she notices it. The two train together often, thanks to his reputation amongst the Montagues as an ideal sparring partner: tough to beat and patient in teaching. He may pin her to the ground every time, but she is the one who holds the cards in her hand. Castora makes him weak and he ought to hate her for it, if he is to live up to his reputation — but Dio help him, he cannot stay away.

Will plans to eventually qualify as a pediatric surgeon. He plans to go to medical school in New Rome, and try to get most of his experience in demigod hospitals as he believes that there aren’t nearly enough demigod doctors and nurses to provide care for everyone who needs it. 

Will was one of the first Greeks to take up the opportunity to move from Camp Half Blood to Camp Jupiter. He served in the Legion for three years before receiving an officer’s transfer to the medical corps. The Legion even gave him some financial aid because of this.

While the Lone Paradise is largely known as a place to gamble away your fortune on the horse races, inside is where the real horseplay transpires. Managed by those who have fallen into Soler’s grasp, a prostitution ring is run out of the ranch—one driven by sweet words promising opportunity and the fear of what happens if you dare not believe them. Though all who fall into the spider’s web have their own cause for being there, whether it be drugs, loans with unscrupulous interest rates, or the chance at a better future, the more they struggle, the more tangled they become. Leaving seems the most obvious answer, but doing so is a nigh unattainable feat, as the Lone Paradise demands a hefty price for freedom.

Owner & Operator — Rafael ‘Raf’ Soler (53) FC: Benicio Del Toro || Played by Mira Owner and operator of the Lone Paradise Ranch, Rafael Soler has been at the center of Arkney County’s entertainment for nearly twenty-five years. By day, the ranch boasts family-friendly activities, but the real fun happens after the sun has fallen. The adult entertainment offered by the ranch has skyrocketed its appeal and made the Lone Paradise Ranch a name whispered among both the elite and those with more illicit cravings. He’s shown himself as an adept businessman who’s not afraid to sink to the level of his clientele, and recent years have found him more depraved than ever. In a long term business/personal relationship with Entertainment Manager, but Annie March has recently caught his eye.

Personal Assistant — Logan ‘Vick’ Vickers (34) FC: Scott Eastwood || Played by Hobie Rafael Soler’s second-in-command, Logan Vickers serves as an extension of the man’s will. He began working for the ranch after graduating high school when Raf used his wealth to protect Vick’s family’s cattle ranch from foreclosure. He is reckless and wild, a hot-headed cowboy who flies by the seat of his pants. Despite his rowdy streak, Vick oozes southern charm and rarely does he ruffle feathers without meaning to. In his youth, he was a local rodeo star, roping calves and clinging to the backs of bucking broncos. Today, he undertakes the more vicious duties for Raf, more often than not walking away with blood on his hands. He has seen the measure of Raf’s wickedness and embraced it, choosing to walk with the devil, rather than meet his wrath. Despite knowing the depths of Raf’s depravity, he has roped in his two longtime friends, the Horse Handler and the Head of Security, into his disturbing games.

Head of Security (mid 30s) — Reserved for Levi Suggested FC: Russell Tovey, Jai Courtney, Jon Kortajarena A transplant from the west coast, the Head of Security came to Arney County after his wealthy father decided to give up the good life in favor of getting back to his roots. A teenager when he arrived in Kansas, the Head of Security quickly fell in with Logan Vickers’ gang of hoodlums. Like the Horse Handler, the Head of Security was brought into Rafael Soler’s circle by Vick, yet unlike the Horse Handler, the Head of Security has no qualms about the unsavory things that go down at the ranch. Though, perhaps this is why the more abhorrent tasks are left to Vick. Instead, the Head of Security is charged with protecting the girls from overzealous patrons and the occasional disgruntled boyfriend. He and Vick are in an erratic off-the-books affair that neither man acknowledges.

Horse Handler (mid 30s) — Open Suggested FC: John Boyega, Michael B. Jordan, Dudley O'Shaughnessy Kansas born and bred, Lone Paradise’s resident Horse Handler has spent his lifetime in the flat grasslands of the Midwest. The son of a pair of horse breeders, the Horse Handler knows his way around those beautiful creatures. Like Logan Vickers, he participated in the local rodeos in his youth, solidifying their friendship—one that has lasted to this day, despite Vick’s unconscious attempts to derail it. An old soul with a bleeding heart, the Horse Handler is a misfit among the Paradise Ranch staff. He stands against everything that Rafael Soler believes, but found himself roped into the madness by Vick nearly a decade ago. Now he cares for the horses that the ranch keeps for races and fixes the odds in the house’s favor when Raf deems it necessary. Legal Advisor (33-36) — Open Suggested FC: David Castañeda The legal advisor is Raf’s son, returning from a lackluster stint on the East Coast, but also the most presentable face of the operation, there in places where his father, Rafael Soler’s accent or aggressive bearing might be less welcome. Whether in dealings with local police, lawsuits, or other official functions, the legal advisor knows where all the bodies — perhaps literally — are buried, and is more than happy to grace the situation with a placid all-American smile. His exact feelings toward the ranch and/or his father are murky at best, and buried under carefully considered words; however, his eye has really been drawn to his father’s latest favorite, Annie March, much to his dismay.

Entertainment Manager (40s) — Open Suggested FC: Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Thandie Newton One of Raf’s long time favorite performers, the Entertainment Manager has done her fair share of favors to get to where she is today. Beginning as just one of the girls, the Entertainment Manager exercised her feminine wiles to charm Raf and win his favor. At one time, she might have thought he’d marry her, but she’s long since learned of her disillusion. A few years ago, Raf retired her from the floor and now she manages the talent with a firm, but fair, hand, taking it upon herself to protect the ones who do good work. She spits fire and fights for what she wants, but she knows to bite her tongue when it comes to Raf. Vick, however, is a different story. She knows they stand on equal footing and is more than willing to throw her weight around when necessary. She has been involved in a long term relationship with Rafael Soler that spans both the personal and professional, though his attention towards her has waned since Annie March caught his lustful gaze.

Escort One — Annie March (24) FC: Josephin Skriver || played by Mady/ She’ll convince anyone who asks that she’s doing just fine, but Annie is always a step away from disaster. After attempting to steal cash and a car from Raf, Annie has been working for him to pay off the debt. But that hasn’t stopped her from borrowing more and more money from him to fund her drug habit. Annie has her share of secrets, including that she’s trying to get a little freedom after being under Morphos’ watch for most of her childhood and can make people do just about whatever she wants them to. At the end of the day, Annie is a survivor and she’ll play whatever game she needs to in order to get by.

Escort Two (20s) — Open Suggested FC: Zendaya Too smart for her own good, Escort has her own operations going on behind Raf’s back. She has private clients she sees on the side and is carefully stealing from Raf in order to fund her escape from the ranch and Arkney. She might come off as the cold type but she has a soft spot for Jockey, even though she knows this is the last place to start caring about people. Particularly close to the Entertainment Manager and almost feels bad for lying to her face but doesn’t fully trust anyone here. Doesn’t realize how dangerous her moves are getting and that the Legal Advisor is starting to catch on.

Escort Three (early 20s) — Reserved for Sam Suggested FC: Karmay Ngai A girl from a nearby town nobody bothers to remember, she is the youngest and newest addition to Raf’s coterie. Seeing the success of former girls like the Entertainment Manager, she has an idea that the ranch is her way out. It should go without saying that not all is as it seems. From the icy indifference of the Entertainment Manager to the questionable warnings and/or advances from the Horse Handler, nothing is given and she learns she must find her footing within the complex politics of the ranch. But how long will it take for the glamor of the ranch and its clientele to wear off? Only time will tell.

Jockey (20s) — Open Suggested FC: Regé-Jean Page, Reece King, Avan Jogia First spotted by Raf at the derby, something about his headstrong, self-assured nature found him in the man’s good graces. One of the fastest racers, Raf soon after offered him a resident position at the ranch with an income that put a jockey’s to shame. Aside from serving as a conversation piece at the ranch for the guests (he’s a skilled storyteller to boot) and eyeing Escort 3, he also has been unwittingly drawn into some of the ranch’s shadier dealings by Vick and the Horse Handler. He’s beginning to realize that he can’t see the bottom of the pool he’s entered.
